SGC Maths Quest Christmas Special 2017 Solutions:
Here are the solutions to the latest Maths Quest, based upon the song 'The 12 Days of Christmas':
On the 5th day the recipient would have received 15 gifts.
By the end of the song, the recipient had been given 364 presents, of which they received 42 geese and swans (Days 6 and 7’s gifts).
Had the song continued it would have been on Day 17 when they first received more pipers than geese (on Day 16 there were 66 of both in total).
The first entrant with all correct answers was Blake C from Bishopsgate School and we would also like to highly commend Rebecca A from Coworth Flexlands School for her efforts. Well done to both of you.
Happy New Year to all of our Mathematicians out there, please keep an eye out for the next Maths Quest problem, which will be coming out later this half term!12 January 2018
