cricket newsWill Grant on his way to 83

1st XI
The 1st XI drew against the MCC yesterday in a thrilling game. The no3 from the MCC scored a superb century but at all times the boys never let them get away with a big score. Nick Kent and Alex Colville bowled particularly well. A very fair declaration meant 223 was required to win the game. At 167 for 1 the win looked likely but the MCC got themselves back in the game with some wickets. With just 6 required off the last over and four wickets in hand the most unlikely over took place. A hat-trick was taken and a near run out off the last four balls of the over so with nine wickets down it meant a draw. It was a game we should have won but it was extremely exciting nonetheless and quite a spectacle for the people watching. Will Grant scored 83 and Ali Stanley 63.
There are some photos below from the game.

U15’s & U14’s
U14C’s and U15C’s beat Hampton on Tuesday, which is a great achievement due to the number of boys they have and I am hoping the A’s and B’s will compete equally well on Saturday!

U13’s
The U13C’s have made it through to the semi-final of the County Cup, which is only the second time in ten years that we have managed this. They beat Downsend by 10 wickets. Ed Jeanes, Oliver Selby and Callum Watson all took wickets bowling out Downsend for 99. In reply Nick Christie (44*) and James MacDonald (39*) knocked off the runs easily recording a century partnership of 101 to win the game.
