Pupils at St George’s College Junior School have been focusing on the importance of kindness.  Last week they held a ‘Kindness Counts Week’ during which they thought about, encouraged and celebrated acts of kindness.  

Both the Upper and Lower Years at the School held assemblies and contests about the meaning of kindness.  During their PSHE lessons, the children looked at the converse of kindness and were shown a presentation on bullying to help ensure it does not occur in our school.  

The children were awarded ‘Kindness Counts’ stickers for acts of kindness throughout the week, which culminated in a ‘Colours for Kindness’ Day on Friday, to which the children wore brightly coloured socks, tights and ties to demonstrate their support for kindness at St. George’s.

Pupils were encouraged to write quotes for Kindness week.
“Kindness is the biggest thing in the world even though it is invisible” wrote            Joe Davie - Year 6 pupil

“Kindness is contagious.  When you are kind to others, others are kind to you and the happiness spreads.” wrote Holly Laidler Year 6 pupil

“Kindness makes the sun come out when everywhere is grey” wrote Tatyana Ucinek Year 3 pupil

“Kindness is treating others how you would want to be treated and not thinking about yourself.  My Great Nan always said that it’s nice to be important but it’s more important to be nice” said Yasmin Dorudi Year 3 pupil.
