Christmas and the New Year brought some excellent news for nine St George’s College students who all received offers from Oxford, Cambridge and Yale Universities. Every year the competition is tougher so that to negotiate successfully the several steps of application - submitting written work, taking extra examinations and impressing in one, two or sometimes three intensive interviews with experts in their fields – is indeed an impressive achievement.

This year we had three students given offers from Oxford: Cameron Henderson-Begg (Deputy Head Boy) was selected by Wadham College to read Chinese Studies; James Clark received an offer from Brasenose College to read Engineering and Christian McCafferty was given an offer by St Catherine’s College to read Physics.

From Cambridge we garnered another four offers: Ben Brebner for Engineering at Jesus College; Conrad Lippold for a highly contested place to read Medicine at Emmanuel College; Heidi Perrin to read Geography at Churchill College and Stephen Fort who gained a Choral Award and a place to read Music at Gonville and Caius College.

The prestigious Yale University offered places to twins Denis and Dasha Aven. Denis wants to major in Mathematics and Economics and Dasha in Corporate Law.

The College staff and students shared the delight of these successful candidates whose achievements made us very proud.
