St George’s College is congratulating four students who have received offers to study at Oxford and Cambridge Universities. This follows a long tradition of St George’s students continuing their education at these world renowned universities.

Cambridge offers have been made to Lydia Burton to read English at Robinson College and Daniel Fisher to read Engineering at Christ’s College.

Oxford offers have been received by Inge Hertzog to read Georgraphy at St Catherine’s College and Jack Kirkby to read Economics, Management and Material Science at St Anne’s College.

The Students said “We are all excited to have been offered places to study at such prestigious universities. We can only look forward to the challenges that lie ahead”

Miss Shelagh Frawley, the Oxbridge Tutor commented: “The Oxbridge process becomes more demanding every year with rising number of applicants and a proliferation of extra examinations and tests to sit before being called to what for most were a succession of rigorous interviews.  Subject teachers and Heads of Department have, as always, been generous with their time and support in running extra classes and giving mock interviews. The whole Oxbridge group met weekly to discuss a wide range of issues and prepare for interviews and I would like to thank students for their contribution. Undoubtedly the strength, knowledge and enthusiasm of the many led to the success of the few. Each student deserves congratulation and we all congratulate and share in the success of our four candidates who received offers.
