Last night the Amanda Smith Theatre rocked to the sounds of Sixth Formers and Fifth Years performing a plethora of songs that had the audience applauding wildly. From the mellow tones of Charlie Howell singing ‘Turning Tables’, to the haunting duet by James Bowen and Millie Jewitt and the hilarious rendition of ‘Summer Nights’ by Jamie Mann and Sarah Townshend with support from their ‘Pink Ladies’ and the T Birds, young and old were entertained.

The concert, organised by Alex Christie and Luke Mather was a phenomenal achievement. Alex and Luke motivated, planned and produced the concert, with the help of Adam Thomas on sound and Jon Mather  (an Old Georgian who is currently a student at Oxford University) on ‘mixing and balancing’. Despite extremely heavy timetables: Alex is applying for Medicine and Luke to Oxford to read music, the two have spent many hours rehearsing and preparing for the musical extravaganza.

The performers’ enthusiasm electrified the audience and a arrangement of White Christmas, sung by Steph Harding, Gemma Harvey and Chloe Wright was particularly festive and a real high for the end of term. The comperes, Oliver Barker, Philip Agnew and Elliot Fisher added a light hearted touch to the proceedings.

What was especially heart warming was the passion the students felt for the event and the way they supported each other to ensure the concert was a huge success. All money raised, over £1500, is for our sister schools in the Congo.
