With the benefit of over 130 years experience of educating children to the highest standard, St George's College is committed to offering an excellent, well-rounded academic education for boys and girls of 11 to 18 years.

The College offers a broad-based education encouraging boys and girls to strive for academic excellence across a wide range of subjects.  During the first two years the school operates a standardised programme in which children study English, Mathematics, French, Science, History, Geography, Latin, RE, PE, Drama, Art, Music, IT and Design Technology.  A choice of a second modern language - Spanish or German - is introduced in the Third Year.  Teaching groups are streamed from the First Year based upon academic ability.

In the Fourth and Fifth Years, students take 10 GCSEs.  All students study a core of six subjects: English, English Literature, Mathematics, Science (worth two GCSEs), Religious Studies.  They also choose four option subjects from a wide range, one of which is expected to be a modern foreign language.  All students take their Religious Studies a year early, and approximately a quarter of the year group take French GCSE a year early as well.

A variety of field trips and visits are incorporated into the curriculum to broaden students' awareness of the world in which they live.  Past trips have included trips to Prague and Paris for the Business Studies and Economics classes and Germany and France for Modern Languages AS groups.  In addition, regular excursions to theatres, museums and galleries are scheduled throughout the year.
