The College offers a broad-based education encouraging boys and girls to strive for academic excellence across a wide range of subjects. During the first two years the school operates a standardised programme in which children study English, Mathematics, French, Science, History, Geography, Latin, RE, PE, Drama, Art, Music, IT and Design Technology.
A choice of a second modern language - Spanish or German - is introduced in the Third Year. Science is divided into the three separate Sciences in the Third Year. All students begin their GCSE course in Religious Studies at this point and approximately a quarter of the cohort also begin their French GCSE course, both of which they go on to sit at the end of the Fourth Year.
Teaching groups are streamed in the First and Second Year based upon academic ability. There is further setting, in Mathematics and French throughout the First to Fifth Years.
All subjects offer a variety of enrichment activities such as a visiting Astrodome in Science, an Environmental Day focussing on Biological and Geographical issues for the Third Years, a visit to Canterbury organised by the English Department for the Second Years - to name but a few.
