Again, entirely student run, the bizarrely-named Tattered Coat Arts Society is essentially a theatre society, making termly trips up to London to experience both the best and the worst of cutting edge fringe theatre. Favourite haunts include the up-and-coming Bush Theatre as well as the world-renowned Royal Court. Whether or not the play will be any good is never clear, but the absolute certainty is that you will enjoy yourself. Opinions after the play vary, and everyone is invited to voice their impressions the next day when the group reconvenes to dissect the previous night's events.

Having never been to a fringe theatre before is no barrier to joining, indeed for the vast majority their only experience of theatre has been a few pantomimes and some extravagant West End musicals. The plays tend to be thought-provoking and challenging, and always invite contrasting views. Once again it is an opportunity not to be missed, even if you only go once and learn more about navigating your way around the London Underground system than the ideas of the playwright.
